If there’s one thing I’ve learned about hosting, it’s that people love a good dip, which is why this feta dip recipe is now a regular at my table. Weeknight snacks, weekend guests, even lazy lunches, it works every time and with everything from stovetop no-yeast naan to crispy crostini.

Feta on its own is bold and salty, but whipping it with Greek yogurt turns it smooth, fluffy, and so spreadable. Add roasted garlic, and this dip takes on another level of deliciousness!

Whipped Feta Dip Ingredients

Ingredients for making whipped feat cheese dip.

Feta Cheese: Stick to the good stuff! The creamier it is, the better your whipped feta cheese dip will be. I suggest buying a block rather than pre-crumbled. If you love feta, try it baked into Khachapuri (Georgian cheese bread) or stirred into my feta and spinach muffins.

Greek yogurt balances feta’s sharpness and makes the dip thick, smooth, and spreadable. Whole milk Greek yogurt works best.

Garlic: I love using roasted garlic confit for a mellow, smoky flavor. You can keep it raw if you wish.

Olive Oil: A drizzle of good extra virgin olive oil makes the texture super silky.

Variations

This easy whipped feta dip is endlessly adaptable. No Greek yogurt? Sour cream or homemade mayonnaise works well as a substitute.

For extra flavor, blend in lemon zest, freshly cracked black pepper, or your favorite fresh herbs like dill, thyme, or parsley.

Or make a spiced feta dip with za’atar or sumac.

Pro Tips

  • Blend longer if you want a lighter, fluffier texture to your creamy whipped feta dip.
  • Scrape down the sides once or twice for an extra-smooth finish.
  • Taste before serving. Feta varies in saltiness, so you may not need extra seasoning.
  • Use good quality feta. The creamier, the better. It will make all the difference.

How To Serve

When it comes to what to serve with feta dip, the options are endless. Keep it simple with a drizzle of olive oil, or go all out with toppings like roasted cherry tomatoes, pine nuts, chili flakes, and mint. That’s what I did. You can also add olives, seeds, garlic chips, or roasted grapes.

Recipe FAQs

Do I need to roast garlic for the feta dip recipe?

No, but I strongly recommend it. Roasted garlic adds a smoky, earthy sweetness that pairs beautifully with feta. Short on time? Use raw garlic instead.

Can I make a feta cheese dip in advance?

Absolutely. You can make it a day ahead and keep it in an airtight container in the fridge. Add your toppings (like fresh mint or pine nuts) right before serving.

How to store leftover dip?

If there is any leftover whipped feta cheese dip, store it in an airtight container in the fridge. It keeps well for 2 days.
